802.1X (EAP)

Deploying 802.1X is a daunting experience for many organizations. There are detailed requirements on end-user PC's, switches, servers, certificates, etc. If any of these requirements are not met, 802.1X will not work.

We can help. We have extensive experience with a wide range of equipment and deployment scenarios. We have worked with major OS and equipment vendors to debug and correct defiencies in their products. We have added new features to our products to make 802.1X deployments even easier.

Customer Example - 802.1X

A customer wished to deploy 802.1X in his environment. After weeks of effort, they were no further ahead than when they had started. We were then called in to help.

We tracked one problem down to firmware issues on the networking equipment that was being used. We worked with the vendor to fix those issues, along with other issues that were exposed as a result of the firmware changes. We used the experience gained from other customers to re-architect his solution so as to avoid problems seen elsewhere.

We worked with an additional equipment vendor to track down undocumented features of their product that would simplify the network configuration. Finally, we tracked down and fixed interaction effects between our product and newer versions of Active Directory that had caused intermittent failures.

The end result was that the customers deployment met all of their requirements. A complex set of features was deployed across a wide range of networking equipment, supplied by a number of different vendors.

To a normal user of the network, however, the additional network security was unobtrusive. They could continue to use the network in their traditional manner. To the administrator, the benefits of authenticating each user on the network were enormous.
